Jakande Launches N500m Empowerment Programme in Lagos

Dr. Oluseyi Jakande, the Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, celebrated his first year in office by launching a N500m empowerment programme. The initiative, unveiled during a ceremony in Lagos, includes minibuses, catering equipment, apprenticeship tools, and a N250m loan facility for residents and small businesses.

Jakande emphasized that the programme fulfills his administration's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the community. Over 600 residents graduated from various vocational and skills acquisition programmes, receiving training in areas such as shoemaking, fashion designing, and information technology.

Jakande urged beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously, framing it as an investment in their futures. He also reported on infrastructure improvements, noting the completion of 18 roads and ongoing construction of four others.

Jakande assured residents that this first year is just the beginning, promising further empowerment initiatives. Tajudeen Olusi, Chairman of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, praised Jakande's performance, linking it to the legacy of the late former Lagos State governor, Lateef Jakande.
