Presidential Villa Worker Testifies in Coup Plot Trial

Zekeri Umoru, an employee of the Presidential Villa, testified in court about his involvement in an alleged coup plot against President Tinubu's administration. He stated that he was misled by Inspector Ahm Ibrahim and Colonel Ma Aji, who introduced him to financial dealings under the pretext of business.

Umoru recounted receiving multiple cash transfers, including 8.8 million naira deposited in a Zenith Bank account, which he believed were for construction work. He expressed discomfort with the continuous flow of money and distanced himself from any knowledge of a coup plan, insisting that his interactions were strictly business-related.

The court also reviewed a video involving Sheikh Imam Kassim Goni, who denied any involvement in the coup plot, claiming funds received were for religious purposes. The trial is set to continue on May 11, 12, and 13, 2025, with further examination of evidence and testimonies.
