Kogi Court Adjourns Okai's Cybercrime Trial, SSG to Testify

The Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has adjourned the cybercrime trial of political activist Comrade Usman Okai Austin, originally scheduled for September 29. Justice S.

Ibrahim set a new date to allow the prosecution to present its case, with the Secretary to the Kogi State Government expected to testify. Okai faces 16 counts of charges filed against him by the Kogi State Government.

During the court session, Okai expressed confidence in the judiciary's ability to deliver justice, asserting that the case against him is politically motivated. He emphasized that delays in the trial would not deter him from speaking out against the state government when necessary.

The charges against Okai are linked to allegations of misappropriation of billions of naira belonging to local government councils, which he allegedly addressed in social media posts. The matter has been transferred to the high court after a remand order was granted by Chief Magistrate Mobah Abdullahi.
