Sowore's Trial Delayed Amid Courtroom Dispute

The trial of Omoyele Sowore was stalled at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as tensions escalated between his counsel, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), and prosecuting counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN). The defence sought an adjournment, citing the court registry's failure to provide a Certified True Copy of essential documents necessary for the case's continuation.

Fusika informed Justice Muhammed Umar that a witness from the Department of State Services (DSS), pursuant to a subpoena issued to the agency’s Director-General, Oluwatosin Ajayi, was present but could not proceed due to the lack of certified court records. Fusika noted that the defence had applied for the CTC on July 22, 2026, and discovered it was approved on July 27.

In opposition, Kehinde accused the defence of intentionally delaying the trial and highlighted that the prosecution had met its obligations. He urged the court to dismiss the defence's case, arguing that the defence had ample time to pursue its request.
