Court Reschedules El-Rufai's Arraignment to April 2026

The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed a new date for the arraignment of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai regarding allegations of unlawful interception of communications involving the National Security Adviser. Initially scheduled for February 25, the court has now set the arraignment for April 23, 2026.

During a recent court session, counsel for the Department of State Services (DSS) informed the court about ongoing investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) concerning allegations of misappropriation of funds. El-Rufai has filed a motion challenging the charges, arguing that they are incompetent, unconstitutional, and an abuse of court process.

He seeks to have the charges quashed and has requested the court to award him 2 billion naira in damages against the DSS for alleged harassment and public victimization.
