Court to Rule on Oyo APC Primary Suit October 26, 2026

The Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has set October 26, 2026, for a ruling on a legal challenge concerning the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Afijio/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West Federal Constituency, related to the 2027 elections. The case, identified by suit number FHC/IB/CS/64/2026, involves Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi as the Plaintiff/Respondent against the APC, Akeem Adeyemi, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the first, second, and third defendants, respectively.

Oyedemi seeks a court order to nullify the APC primary due to alleged non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2026 and APC guidelines. During the court session, all parties were represented by their counsels, including Senior Advocate of Nigeria Musibau Adetunbi for the plaintiff.

Adetunbi argued that accreditation was not conducted in specific local government areas, urging the court to nullify the primary election and mandate a fresh primary. The defendants presented preliminary objections, which Adetunbi countered, emphasizing the lack of accreditation.
