Ekiti APC Aspirant Abimbola Olawumi Granted Bail

On Thursday, an Ekiti State Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ado Ekiti, presided over by Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to Abimbola Olawumi, a governorship aspirant from the All Progressives Congress, on self-recognition. The court adjourned the case until July 28, 2026, for hearing.

Olawumi faces four charges related to alleged blackmail, bullying, and threatening messages directed at Yemisi Joluwe, the Chief Executive Officer of YSJ Farms, and two others. The Police Legal Officer, Samson Osobu, accused Olawumi of making false accusations against Joluwe regarding embezzlement and of transmitting threatening communications on social media platforms.

Olawumi pleaded not guilty to the charges. Her counsel, Odunayo Okunade, argued for bail, labeling the charges as bailable offences and claiming political persecution.

After her release, Olawumi accused the state government of victimization and alleged that she was abducted by the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command prior to her court appearance.
