Ekiti Court Revokes Bail of APC Aspirant Abimbola Olawumi

On Tuesday, an Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti revoked the bail granted to Abimbola Olawumi, an All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant. Olawumi was arraigned on July 23 for alleged blackmail, cyberbullying, and death threats against Yemisi Joluwe, CEO of YSJ Limited, among others.

She pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge. Her counsel, Odunayo Okunade, requested bail on self-recognition, which was granted, and the case was adjourned to July 28.

However, during the subsequent hearing, Okunade explained Olawumi's absence was due to health issues. Police Prosecutor Samson Osobu opposed this, citing Olawumi's active presence on social media on July 26 and 27, where she allegedly continued her abusive behavior.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun expressed disappointment over Olawumi's failure to appear and revoked her bail, issuing a bench warrant for her arrest. The case is adjourned to August 17, 2026, for further hearing.
