Court Allows FG to Prosecute Bello Turji's Associates

On Tuesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, granted the Federal Government's application to prosecute five suspects linked to notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji in absentia. The request was made by David Kasw, counsel for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), during an oral application.

This marks the third consecutive court appearance without the defendants, who could not be traced despite a bench warrant issued for their arrest. The court adjourned the matter until April 13, 2024, for continued trial.

The suspects, including Musa Muham, Kamarawa Abubakar, Hashimu K, Doctor Bashir Abdullahi, Samuel Chinedu, and Lucki Chukwuma, face multiple terror-related charges, including aiding and abetting acts of terrorism and providing materials to terrorist groups. The AGF had previously filed 11 counts against eight defendants, including Bello Turji, with significant allegations regarding the provision of military equipment and services to terrorist organizations.
