Court to Hear Atiku's Amendment Application Against Tinubu

On October 13, a Federal High Court in Abuja will hear an application from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), seeking to amend a suit that questions the eligibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general election. Justice Inyang Ekwo confirmed the hearing date after verifying that the respondents, including Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), had been served with the motion.

The suit, filed last month, alleges that Tinubu presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 1999 when he first ran for Governor of Lagos State. The plaintiffs argue that this disqualifies Tinubu from the presidential election under Section 137 (1) (j) of the Constitution.

They are requesting the court to disqualify both Tinubu and the APC from participating in the election due to these constitutional breaches. The case is marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026.
