Twelve Convicted for Naira Abuse at Delta Party

On Tuesday, Justice Hyeladzira Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, convicted twelve individuals for tampering with naira notes during a birthday party. The defendants, including Abimbola Dolapo, Ufuoma Okoti, Samuel Kingsley, and others, pleaded guilty to charges of abusing naira notes, specifically a sum of ₦20,000 in ₦200 denominations.

Their actions contravened Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007. The prosecution, led by Francis Jirbo, requested appropriate sentencing, while defense counsel sought leniency, citing the defendants' remorse.

Justice Nganjiwa sentenced the group to six months imprisonment and imposed fines of ₦150,000 for most defendants, while Clinton Osamudiamen received a ₦200,000 fine. Additionally, Osamudiamen was ordered to write a good conduct statement.

The EFCC also disclosed that on July 17, 2026, the court ordered the forfeiture of seven luxury vehicles linked to internet fraudsters.
