Delta Police Convict 16 for Vandalism and Theft

The Delta State Police Command secured the conviction of sixteen male suspects for vandalizing government property and related offenses. The convictions were announced by spokesman Bright Edaf, who noted that the suspects were sentenced to three years in prison by a magistrate court in Asaba on July 15, 2026.

The defendants were found guilty of criminal conspiracy and theft of iron rods belonging to the Delta State government, as well as malicious damage to government property, which is contrary to the criminal code law of Delta State. Additionally, they were charged with unlawful possession of twenty cups of Colorado Kolo, an offense punishable under the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act.

The convicted individuals include Yaro Abdul (25), Moham Isah (31), Hassan Jato (23), Azeez Bello (18), Duru Lawrenc (27), Tijani Hassan (23), Muasu Alabo (27), Lawal Zardi (18), Gambo Abdul (18), Ali Musa (21), Musa Abdul (18), Umuru Kasa (19), Gaga Amo (25), Sani Garuba (18), Hanza Garuba (24), and Abdul Ahi Jubrin (18). State Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi commended the diligent investigation and successful prosecution, emphasizing the commitment to protecting public infrastructure and enforcing the law.
