Court Sentences 16 to Prison for Vandalism in Delta

A magistrate court in Asaba, Delta State, sentenced sixteen individuals to three years in prison for vandalizing government property and illegal possession of illicit drugs. The convicts were found guilty of stealing iron rods belonging to the Delta State government and willfully damaging government property, offenses punishable under the Criminal Code Law of Delta State.

Additionally, they were convicted for unlawfully possessing 20 cups of Colorado, a substance commonly known as Kolo, in violation of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act. The individuals sentenced include Yaro Abdul (25), Moham Isah (31), Hassan Jato (23), Azeez Bello (18), Duru Lawrenc (27), Tijani Hassan (23), Muasu Alabo (27), Lawal Zardi (18), Gambo Abdul (18), Ali Musa (21), Musa Abdul (18), Umuru Kasa (19), Gaga Amo (25), Sani Garuba (18), Hanza Garuba (24), and Abdul Ahi Jubrin (18).

The Delta State Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the investigative and prosecutorial teams for their efforts in securing the convictions, emphasizing the commitment to protect public infrastructure and combat crime across the state.
