Court Orders Arrest of APC Aspirant for Cyberbullying

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Abimbola Olawumi, a disqualified governorship aspirant from the All Progressives Congress (APC), due to allegations of blackmail and death threats against Yemisi Joluwe, the CEO of YSJ Limited. Olawumi was initially arraigned on July 23, 2023, where she pleaded not guilty to four charges and was granted bail on self-recognition.

However, her absence from a subsequent court session angered Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun, who viewed it as disrespectful. Olawumi's counsel, Odunayo Okunade, cited health issues for her absence, but Police Prosecutor Samson Osobu contested this, noting her active presence on social media during the same period, where she allegedly continued her abusive behavior.

The magistrate revoked her bail, expressing disappointment over her failure to comply with court proceedings, and adjourned the case until August 17, 2026.
