APC Seeks Arrest of Suspended Member Abayomi Hunye

The All Progressives Congress (APC) submitted a petition on August 24, 2026, to the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services seeking the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of Abayomi Hunye, a suspended party member. Hunye is accused of impersonating the party's governorship candidate for the January 2027 election, which the APC claims is a fraudulent act intended to mislead the public and disrupt peace in Ogun State.

Hunye was suspended on April 7, 2026, due to alleged anti-party activities and actions detrimental to the party's image, following a petition from his local ward in Ipokia Local Government Area. The APC confirmed that the recognized candidates for the governorship election are Solomon Adeola and Kudirat Balogun.

The party has urged the police and DSS to question Hunye regarding these allegations and to prosecute him for impersonation and violations of the Electoral Act, 2026.
