Ogun Court Denies Bid to Halt Ladi Adebutu's Vote-Buying Trial

The Ogun State High Court dismissed an application to stop the trial of Ladi Adebutu and five others for alleged vote-buying during the 2023 governorship election. The charges include conspiracy, bribery, and undue influence offenses.

The defense argued that the Attorney General of the Federation lacked the authority to prosecute state election offenses. However, the prosecution maintained that the AGF had the legal right to prosecute such crimes.

The trial is set to commence on January 29-30, 2026.
