Nigeria Launches Committees to Boost Creative Economy

The Nigerian Minister for Arts, Culture, and Tourism inaugurated four committees in Abuja to enhance the country's creative economy. The initiative aims to contribute $100 billion to Nigeria's GDP and create two million jobs for young Nigerians by 2030.

The committees are tasked with reviewing existing frameworks, designing a coherent governance structure, and eliminating fragmentation in the sector. They will submit a work plan within 90 days, with quarterly public briefings scheduled until April 21, 2026.

Dr. Ikenna Nwosu, CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, welcomed the move, emphasizing the potential of the creative economy to drive innovation and strengthen Nigeria's global influence.

The committees will focus on developing practical, evidence-based plans to address financial gaps, improve intellectual property protection, and create public-private partnerships. This initiative aligns with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to position Nigeria as a leader in the creative industry.
