CSMN Defends Oritsejafor Against NSCIA Accusations

The Christian Social Movement Nigeria (CSMN) issued a strong rebuttal to the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) regarding accusations that prominent Christian leader Ayo Oritsejafor misrepresented comments on Nigeria's insecurity. CSMN's Chief Executive Officer, Bosun Emmanuel, criticized the NSCIA for allegedly distorting Oritsejafor's remarks, which were made during a television interview.

The NSCIA claimed that Oritsejafor stated that 90-95% of criminals in Nigeria are Muslims, while CSMN argued that he was specifically addressing the insecurity issues in the country. CSMN demanded an apology from the NSCIA, asserting that the Islamic body was misrepresenting the Christian community and failing to condemn violence perpetrated by extremist groups.

CSMN also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to engage religious leaders to address insecurity and urged the NSCIA to promote peace rather than incite division.
