NSCIA Condemns Borno School Abduction, Calls for Action

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), led by Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, condemned the abduction of students and teachers from the Government Day Secondary School in Lassa Town, Askira Uba Local Government Area, Borno State. In a statement by Abba Jimoh from the NSCIA's Public Affairs Office, the attack was described as barbaric, highlighting the murder of a teacher and the abduction of innocent students.

The council noted that this incident follows a previous abduction on May 15, where 42 pupils were taken from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in the same area. The NSCIA called for a national response to these unconscionable acts, emphasizing that terrorism poses a grave existential threat to Nigeria.

They recommended strengthening intelligence gathering and surveillance through inter-agency cooperation and advanced technology. The council commended the efforts of the armed forces, particularly the troops of Operation Hadin Kai, for their swift actions in rescuing abducted individuals.
