Customs and Defence Intelligence College Boost Security Ties

The Nigerian Customs Service and the Defence Intelligence College are deepening their security collaboration to address evolving security threats in Nigeria. A study tour took place in Kano, hosted by the Kano/Jigawa Area Command, with participation from Defence Intelligence College officials.

The theme of the tour was "Operational Intelligence in National Crisis Prevention and Response." Chief Superintendent of Customs, Tahir Balarab, noted that the visit was significant for intelligence sharing, which is crucial for national security and sustaining legitimate trade. Deputy Comptroller of Customs, Usman Adamu, emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding the country's borders and supporting government fiscal policies.

The engagement included technical presentations aimed at enhancing operational strategies and improving enforcement measures. Group Captain Abdulaziz Adisa from the Defence Intelligence College explained the aim of the tour was to identify lessons that strengthen national crisis prevention and response.
