NCS Generates ₦88.9B and Seizes Endangered Wildlife

The Kano/Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) reported generating ₦88.93 billion over eight months, including ₦14 billion in July 2023. This announcement was made by Deputy Comptroller Usman Adamu during a press briefing in Kano State.

The Command also made a significant seizure of 48 endangered wildlife species, marking it as the largest such confiscation in the West African sub-continent. The seized wildlife has been transferred to the Special Wildlife Office at the NCS headquarters.

In addition to wildlife, the Command confiscated various goods, including food and personal products worth ₦798.1 million, trucks and vehicles valued at ₦711.4 million, counterfeit packaging materials, and other items totaling ₦2.2 billion. Furthermore, under its anti-money laundering initiatives, the NCS seized 73,300 USD, 15,975 British Pounds, and 827,800 Saudi Riyals, along with 12 individuals, all handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Kano.
