Customs Intercept N1.4bn Contraband In Ogun

The Ogun Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted contraband worth N1.4 billion in Idiroko, Ogun State. The seizure included 105 bags of foreign parboiled rice and 105 bags of Cannabis Sativa, among other items.

The Area Controller, Godwin Otunla, highlighted the Duty Payable Value (DPV) of the intercepted goods, which also included used pneumatic tires, clothing, and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The command's efforts resulted in a significant economic loss for smugglers and a boost in revenue generation for the national economy.

Otunla emphasized the commitment and resilience of the officers in achieving these results. Additionally, the command generated a total revenue of N45 million in July, showing a commendable increase in compliance and border monitoring activities.

The seized illicit drugs were handed over to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and necessary action.
