Customs Officer Prince Ise Dies in Auto Crash in Cross River

Prince Etteng Ise, a 54-year-old officer of the Nigeria Customs Service serving at the Mfum Border in Etung Local Government Area, died in a lone auto crash on September 7, 2026. The accident occurred along the Ikom-Calabar Highway near Alesi Village in Ikom Local Government Area.

According to the Cross River State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, Ise lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a pothole, causing the vehicle to veer into a bush and crash into a tree. The incident was reported at approximately 2:56 p.m.

Residents rushed Ise to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. His remains were subsequently deposited at the hospital mortuary.

The police command expressed condolences to Ise's family, colleagues, and the Nigeria Customs Service, urging motorists to exercise caution and remain vigilant while driving.
