INEC Warns Against PVC Delivery Scam and Fake Website

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a warning regarding a scam related to the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Wilfr Ifogah, the Deputy Director of INEC, stated in an interview in Abuja that a fraudulent online portal is circulating on social media platforms, falsely claiming to facilitate voter registration for the 2026 elections.

This scam, which has been shared via WhatsApp and other digital platforms, instructs users to provide personal information, including home addresses, in exchange for the delivery of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Ifogah emphasized that these messages are designed to harvest personal data from unsuspecting citizens and urged the public to disregard them.

He cautioned that clicking on the links could expose users to identity theft and cyber fraud. INEC clarified that it does not use third-party blogs or private URLs for official voter registration exercises and does not deliver PVCs to private residences.
