INEC Launches Online Portal for Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced an online self-service portal to facilitate the registration of eligible Nigerians for Permanent Voter Cards (PVC), allowing users to update details, transfer voting locations, and replace lost or damaged cards. This initiative is part of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which has had its deadline extended from July 10 to July 24, 2026.

The portal enables first-time voters to complete the registration process using their mobile phones, including biometric data capture, without needing to visit an INEC office. To register, users must create an account on the INEC self-service CVR portal at http://cvr.inecnigeria.org, providing their National Identification Number (NIN) and other personal information.

The portal also allows users to upload supporting documents and capture biometric data such as photographs and fingerprints via the INEC mobile application. This system aims to streamline the registration process and manage the number of expected registrants effectively.
