Dangote Cement Transport Wins Award for Industry Excellence

Dangote Cement Transport has been awarded the Champion of Transport Industry Development Award by the Transport Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) for its significant contributions to enhancing road transport operations, safety standards, and logistics efficiency in Nigeria. Mr. Murilo Silva, the Head of Dangote Cement Transport, accepted the award on behalf of the transport management team, reaffirming the company's dedication to promoting safety, innovation, and excellence within the transport value chain.

Silva stated that the recognition reflects the hard work and professionalism of the company's transport workforce, including drivers and safety teams. Additionally, Dr. Segun Obayendo, Technical Assistant on Transportation to Nigeria’s Vice-President, advocated for the establishment of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA)-style systems across all 36 states to modernize transportation.

He also mentioned a Presidential Initiative on Road Transport Transformation aimed at improving transport planning and coordination. Dr. Kayode Opeifa, Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, called for better integration of various transportation modes to enhance logistics and trade.
