Nigerian Artists Join Recording Academy's 2026 Class

The Recording Academy has announced its 2026 new member class, which includes notable Nigerian figures Darey Art Alade, Sasha P, and Danny Young. This induction represents a historic moment, as it features a diverse roster of artists, with 50% under 40 years old and 43% women.

The new members, comprising singers, songwriters, producers, and music professionals, will officially become part of the prestigious global music community that influences the Grammy Awards. Darey Art Alade, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Livespot360, emphasized the importance of music in shaping culture and connecting people.

He expressed pride in representing Nigeria and Africa, committing to support creators and amplify their voices. Danny Young, a pioneer of the early Afropop era, highlighted the opportunity to contribute to the Grammy Award process.
