Sokoto State Can Afford N150,000 Minimum Wage, Says Dasuki

During a visit to Dogon Daji, Dasuki, a federal lawmaker, asserted that Sokoto State is capable of paying a minimum wage of N150,000 monthly to civil servants, supported by significant increases in federal allocations over the past three years, particularly in the last quarter of 2023. He addressed critical challenges in healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and rural development, advocating for prudent resource management to enhance worker welfare amidst rising living costs.

Dasuki also expressed concerns regarding the socio-economic realities in Sokoto, including high poverty rates and poor healthcare delivery. He called for strategic investments to address these issues and improve the lives of citizens, particularly retired civil servants.

Additionally, he announced initiatives targeting youth, including a digital skills acquisition program and the provision of laptops to 70 students in higher institutions, aimed at promoting digital literacy. The visit also included discussions on the Dogon Daji earth dam project, part of broader efforts to support agriculture and rural economic development.
