Dasuki Urges Tinubu to Strengthen Ties with Niger Republic

Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives and representative of the Tambuwal/Kebbi Federal Constituency, called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to renew Nigeria's bilateral relationship with Niger Republic to effectively tackle insecurity.

Dasuki, speaking in Sokoto after receiving an award from the people of his constituency, highlighted the deteriorating relationship between Nigeria and Niger Republic, describing it as a negative omen for security. He urged northern governors to intensify cooperation to address regional security challenges, noting that insecurity has become a national issue requiring collective action.

Dasuki also called for federal and state governments to engage Niger Republic in joint operations against insurgents and stressed the importance of cross-border collaboration to contain violent extremism. He proposed measures for improving security, including the recruitment of forest guards and adequate funding for security agencies.

Dasuki reaffirmed his commitment to providing credible opposition and ensuring the success of the ADC in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
