Tinubu Urges Northeast Governors to Combat Terrorism

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu addressed governors from the six northeastern states—Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe—at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, urging them to enhance their efforts against terrorism and banditry. He stated that Nigeria has entered a "golden age" of economic stability and emphasized the importance of collaboration among the states to tackle these challenges.

Tinubu referenced his commitment to infrastructure development, specifically mentioning the Akwanga-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri superhighway, which commenced earlier this year. He also assured pensioners that his administration is addressing pension backlogs left by previous administrations.

The meeting served as a formal thank-you visit from North-East political leaders for Tinubu's decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 general election. Borno State Governor Prof Babagana Zulum, who led the delegation, expressed gratitude for the renomination of Shettima.
