Tinubu Urges Northeastern Governors to Combat Terrorism

On Thursday, President Bola Tinubu met with governors from the six northeastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. He urged them to intensify their efforts against terrorism and banditry, stating that Nigeria has entered a "golden age" of economic stability.

The meeting served as a formal thank-you visit for Tinubu's decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 general election. Tinubu highlighted the importance of unity in addressing the challenges posed by insecurity and reiterated his commitment to infrastructure development in the region, referencing the Akwanga-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Superhighway.

He also addressed pension issues, assuring that his administration is working to clear backlogs left by previous governments. Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who led the delegation, expressed gratitude for Shettima's renomination.
