Portable Critiques Music Icons for Stifling New Talent

Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, stated that Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Olamide have maintained their dominance in the Nigerian music industry for over 10 years, making it challenging for other artists to rise to prominence. In a video shared on his Instagram story, Portable expressed that while these four artists have been successful and have helped other musicians gain recognition, they have not retired to allow new talent to emerge.

He specifically mentioned that Fuji artists like K1 De Ultimate, Pasuma, and Osupa Saheed should create more opportunities for younger performers in the genre. Portable remarked, “If you see me drag Olamide, the reason is because I want to chill with him,” indicating his desire to collaborate with these top artists.

He contrasted their ongoing success with earlier artists like Timaya, 2face, and Eedris Abdulkareem, who he noted had their time in the spotlight but eventually faded.
