DAWN Project Engages Nigerian Youth in Climate Competition

The DAWN Project has unveiled plans to expand its annual environmental competition, targeting millions of youths across Nigeria. The initiative was launched during the 2026 DAWN Project Ambassador competition held in Lagos on Tuesday, with the theme "Power Us." Co-founder Desmond Majekodumi emphasized the competition's design to engage creative young people in promoting environmental sustainability.

The project aims to increase participation from 200,000 to one million, encouraging youth to advocate for nature protection. Co-founder Angela Emuwa expressed excitement about the turnout and the importance of addressing environmental health, noting that a healthy environment is crucial for overall health.

The competition, open until July 31, will assess entries in various creative forms, including poetry and music. Dr.

Pamela Ajayi highlighted the project's focus on climate change awareness and its impact on nearly 100 schools and 120,000 people. The initiative aims to strengthen youth-driven environmental advocacy across Nigeria, with a significant increase in cash prizes to attract participants.
