Nine Passengers Rescued After Bandit Attack in Kano

On Sunday at approximately 5:30 PM, the Kano State Police Command confirmed an attack by armed bandits on a commercial bus along the Jos–Kano highway in Doguwa Local Government Area. Five suspected bandits armed with machetes and a firearm ambushed a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BKK 6824 XA at the Folgore Forest axis.

Out of the 20 passengers on board, 13 were abducted. CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa reported that the Divisional Police Officer in Doguwa quickly mobilized tactical operatives to the scene following a distress call.

The operatives engaged the bandits in a gun duel, resulting in the rescue of nine victims, while one male passenger managed to escape later. Currently, three passengers, consisting of one male and two females, remain in captivity.

The rescued individuals were taken to Doguwa General Hospital for medical evaluation and are reported to be in stable condition. CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori commended the vigilance of motorists and residents, emphasizing ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining captives and apprehend the perpetrators.
