Defence Minister Advocates for Tech Investment in Security

Major General Christopher Musa (Retd.), the Minister of Defence, urged for increased security investment to enhance the integration of technology and institutional capacity into Nigeria's defense capabilities. Speaking at the Second Policy Colloquium organized by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with Saban Media Services, he highlighted the importance of a defense posture that adapts to changing threats and leverages technological advancements.

General Musa pointed out that Nigeria's security challenges span land, maritime, air, and cyber domains, necessitating a more integrated defense approach supported by effective intelligence coordination and joint operations. He stated that technology, including artificial intelligence and cyber capabilities, is crucial for modern military operations.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, represented by Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, acknowledged the role of cognitive security in national security, while Mrs. Leah Katung-Babatunde, the colloquium convener, noted that today's security landscape extends into the digital domain.
