Defence Minister to Address 2027 Elections Security Issues

General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), the Minister of Defence, is set to deliver the keynote lecture on “Security Challenges and Integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 Elections” at the Blueprint Newspaper’s annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards ceremony. This event will take place on August 18, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The lecture aims to address Nigeria's security challenges and their implications for the electoral process as preparations for the 2027 general elections commence. Salisu Umar, Managing Director of Blueprint Newspapers Limited, stated that General Musa's extensive experience in national security and defence administration makes him well-suited to discuss the relationship between national security and credible elections.

The lecture will explore emerging security threats, the responsibilities of security agencies, and practical recommendations for ensuring peaceful elections. General Musa is recognized as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished military leaders, with over three decades of service in national defence and counter-insurgency operations.
