Delta Police Arrest 81 Suspects in Asaba Drug Operation

On July 24, 2026, the Delta State Police Command conducted an intelligence-led operation in Asaba, resulting in the arrest of 81 suspects, comprising 50 males and 31 females. The operation targeted identified criminal flashpoints and was executed by the command’s tactical teams.

The suspects were apprehended for alleged sale and possession of suspected illicit drugs, as well as for operating an illegal checkpoint at the Asaba-Onitsha Head Bridge. During the operation, large quantities of tramadol and substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered, along with five vehicles impounded for various traffic violations.

The suspects and the recovered exhibits remain in police custody as investigations continue. Bright Edafe, the command’s spokesperson, reiterated the commitment to intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention, warning individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face legal consequences.
