Eatery Worker Jeffrey Shot Dead by Cultists in Delta State

On Saturday evening, September 12, 2026, an eatery worker identified as Jeffrey was shot dead by suspected cultists in Oghara, located in the Otefe area of Delta State. The incident occurred while Jeffrey and his colleague, Daniel, were returning home from work on a motorcycle.

Jeffrey succumbed to his gunshot injuries, while Daniel was injured but survived and was hospitalized. A police source confirmed that efforts to save Jeffrey were unsuccessful, and his body has been deposited in the morgue.

An anti-cultism advocacy platform, Naija Confra, reported that the attack happened between 10-11 PM. It was noted that Daniel, who graduated from Delta State Polytechnic this year, was taken to a hospital outside the immediate area due to local hospitals being on strike.

Both men lived in close proximity to each other. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, was unreachable for comments regarding the incident.
