Governor Oborevwori Supports Peace Through Warri Unity Games

Delta State Governor Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori praised the renewed efforts to promote peace and unity among diverse ethnic communities in Warri during the closing ceremony of the inaugural Warri Unity Games at the Federal Government College (FGC), Warri. Represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, the governor expressed regret for his absence due to official commitments.

He commended the Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, for initiating the Unity Games, which he described as a platform for interaction and friendship among communities. Tonukari stated that the Delta State Government supports initiatives that enhance youth empowerment and peaceful coexistence.

The Ovie of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom, His Royal Majesty King Kingsley Emakpo Orereh, also lauded the initiative, urging residents to continue peace efforts beyond the games and to refrain from inflammatory exchanges on social media. The Olu of Warri emphasized the commonalities among the people of the area, highlighting the importance of unity.
