Olu of Warri Launches Inaugural Warri Unity Games

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, inaugurated the inaugural Warri Unity Games, emphasizing that the event will take place annually on the first Saturday of the coronation anniversary celebration week. This initiative aims to promote unity among the diverse ethnic groups in Warri.

During the inauguration at the Federal Government College, Warri, the Olu expressed hope that the games would help the community overcome past grievances and foster a collective destiny. He reflected on a violent incident during a previous carnival in the early 1990s, which he attributed to pride and negative energies, stating that Warri has yet to fully recover from that crisis.

The Olu reiterated his commitment to unity, peace, and progress, declaring that the coronation anniversary would now focus on these values. The Warri Unity Games are expected to become a permanent fixture on the kingdom's calendar, bringing residents together across communal lines.
