Odebala Sues NDC, INEC Over Delta Guber Primary Results

Ejaife Omizu Odebala has initiated legal proceedings against the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and four other defendants in a Federal High Court in Abuja regarding the results of the Delta State governorship primary held on May 29, 2026. The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1636/2026 and dated July 29, 2026, is led by his lawyer Fredricks Itula, SAN.

Odebala claims he received the highest number of votes during the primary and is requesting the court to declare him the winner. He argues that the NDC and INEC are legally barred from recognizing any other candidate, including the first defendant, for the 2027 Delta State Governorship General Election.

Odebala seeks several declarations, including that he should be recognized as the candidate for the NDC and that the party must issue him the necessary nomination forms. He also requests an order to prevent the first defendant from presenting himself as the NDC candidate.
