Delta Police Rescue Trafficking Victim from Côte d’Ivoire

The Delta State Police Command successfully rescued a 25-year-old woman who was trafficked to Côte d’Ivoire under the guise of vocational training. The operation led to the arrest of 26-year-old Ese Betty Isiorho, who allegedly deceived the victim into traveling abroad with promises of hairdressing training.

Upon arrival in Côte d’Ivoire, the victim was forced into prostitution instead. The police began investigations following a petition that exposed a cross-border human trafficking network targeting vulnerable women.

The Effurun Area Command, led by ACP Aliyu Shaba, arrested Isiorho, who confessed to trafficking the victim and another woman to Côte d’Ivoire for commercial sexual exploitation. The police have successfully repatriated the victim to Nigeria, where she is receiving medical attention and support.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the second victim still in Côte d’Ivoire and to apprehend other members of the trafficking syndicate, including an accomplice known as Madam Purity. The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operation as a significant milestone.
