Ben Kalu Denies Role in Abia School Project Dispute

Deputy Speaker Ben Kalu, representing the House of Representatives, issued a statement denying any involvement in the execution of a disputed school project in Abia State. The project, aimed at constructing and furnishing an ultra-modern conference and learning facility at Bend Secondary Grammar School in Bend LGA, has been surrounded by controversy.

Kalu described reports linking him to the project as misleading and politically motivated. He clarified that his role as a legislator is to attract development initiatives to his constituency, and he does not serve as a procurement agency or supervise project implementation, which falls under the executive arm of government.

Kalu urged relevant government agencies to investigate the matter and hold the contractor accountable. He also corrected the project's location, stating that the original intent was for an ICT center at Onuinyang, which had been misreported.
