Governor Mutfwang Addresses Security Concerns in Plateau

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang convened the State Security Council on Wednesday at the New Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos, to urgently review recent violent attacks across the state. The meeting included the Deputy Governor, heads of security and law enforcement agencies, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba.

Discussions focused on recent security incidents, emerging threats, and enhancing the state's response to violence. This meeting followed a series of deadly attacks, notably in Mangu Local Government Area, which resulted in numerous fatalities.

The Plateau State Government had previously condemned an August attack on Bin Mper community in Kombun District, Mangu LGA, and directed increased surveillance in vulnerable areas. Police Commissioner Ayodeji Faniyan stated that the meeting was necessary due to recent security breaches and confirmed that some suspects had been arrested.

Investigations are ongoing, with collaboration among various security agencies at both state and national levels.
