Cleric Abduljabbar Accuses Kano Govt of Document Destruction

Abduljabbar Nasir Kabara, a cleric currently detained at Kuje Correctional Centre for blasphemy, has raised serious allegations against the Kano State Government. In a six-page letter dated March 13, 2026, he claims there is a deliberate plan to destroy key documents related to his ongoing appeal.

Kabara fears that the impending demolition of Kurmawa Prison, where he was previously held, will result in the loss of vital legal papers linked to his case. He alleges that Ibrahim Adam, a special adviser to the Kano State Governor, has confirmed plans to demolish the prison, which Kabara believes is an attempt to erase records that could support his appeal.

Additionally, he has expressed concerns about the integrity of the court proceedings, citing discrepancies in the translation of official records, which he claims have been manipulated. Kabara is urging the Presidential Court of Appeal to ensure the protection of documents pertinent to his case and to review the alleged distortions in the translation of legal arguments.
