DHQ Launches Skills Training for Military Veterans

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) initiated a skills acquisition training program for military veterans, scheduled from July 14 to 17, 2026, at the 22 Brigade headquarters in Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Kwara State. Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede opened the training, emphasizing its strategic importance in improving the welfare of veterans and demonstrating the armed forces' commitment to their well-being.

The program aims to empower veterans with vocational skills to sustain their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria's socio-economic growth. General Oluyede urged participants to take full advantage of the training, which is designed to equip them with technical skills for entrepreneurship, enabling them to establish and sustain businesses and secure alternative sources of income post-service.
