DHQ Addresses Hostile Propaganda Against Nigerian Military

Major General Michael Onoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, highlighted that these platforms have become significant channels for disseminating fake news, often driven by economic interests rather than national security.

He urged media partners to collaborate in countering false narratives and to support national security efforts. Onoja emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and encouraged journalists to seek clarification on military operations, noting that operational security sometimes restricts immediate information release.

He described the media's role as critical in shaping public perception and maintaining public confidence in the military. The relationship between the Defence Headquarters and the media aims to promote national security and strengthen public trust in the armed forces.
