DHQ and DECAN Strengthen Partnership Against Misinformation

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DECAN) reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration to promote accurate defense reporting and counter misinformation. This partnership was formalized during a courtesy visit by DECAN President Odita Sunday and new executive members to Major General Samaila Uba at the DHQ in Abuja.

Odita emphasized the strategic partnership's importance in advancing national security and enhancing public understanding of military operations. The DHQ will facilitate journalist access to operational theaters, allowing for fact verification and countering hostile propaganda.

Plans were disclosed to launch an official magazine documenting the achievements of the armed forces. Additionally, there is a proposal to establish a dedicated Defence Correspondents Press Centre in Abuja to serve as a workspace for journalists and a central point for military coordination.

Major General Uba assured continued engagement with the media to promote peace and national unity while urging journalists to verify information before publication.
