Nigeria's Ex-Oil Minister Diezani Faces UK Court Over £100,000 Bribe Allegations

Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria's first female oil minister, appeared in a UK court facing allegations of accepting a £100,000 bribe and abusing power to award contracts. The case, listed before Justice Thornton, involves corruption charges spanning 2011-2015.

Alison-Madueke, who denies the charges, is accused of benefiting from cash, luxury items, and property. The trial is scheduled to start on January 26, 2026, lasting 10-12 weeks.

Two other individuals are also facing bribery charges linked to the case. The National Crime Agency (NCA) has been investigating the case.
