Ex-Nigerian Minister Diezani Faces UK Court in £100,000 Bribery Trial

Diezani Alison-Madueke, former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, appeared in a UK court for a bribery trial related to alleged illegal payments in exchange for oil and gas contracts. The UK NCA charged her with receiving a £100,000 bribe.

She served as a minister from 2010 to 2015 and made history as the first female OPEC president in 2014. The court granted her bail with stringent conditions due to flight risk concerns.

Meanwhile, the EFCC in Nigeria is pursuing assets linked to her, including a repatriation agreement involving $52.88 million.
